Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Paramount In Talks For Film Rights to ‘Daughter of Smoke and Bone’

December 1, 2011

Paramount entered a bidding war to acquire the rights to the novel ‘Daughter of Smoke and Bone,’ by Laini Taylor. According to Deadline they are close to finalizing the purchase of the rights, with a price in the $700,000 range. The rights are high in demand due to the potential to create a “effects-driven franchise,” out of the series. The novel tells the story of a 17 year old art student named Karou who is sent on a mysterious journey by her father to collect teeth. She doesn’t know why she’s been sent by her unpleasant father to do this, but it’s the start of an otherworldly adventure. Do you have any hopes for the ‘Daughter of Smoke and Bone‘ movie? Do you have any casting choices for an actor that could fit the role of Karou?

What about Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey Series, that would be a great franchise. It seems all these YA books are getting made to movies and they are overlooking an absolute amazing series that would be awesome on the big screen!

No. Freaking. Way. This book is SO amazing!! I really hope they stay true to the story and get a good cast. As for Karou, a totally kick-butt heroine, they better pick an incredible actress!
