First Trailer for ‘On the Road’ – Starring Garret Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Viggo Mortensen

March 9, 2012

The long awaited adaptation of ‘On the Road‘ by Jack Kerouac now has a trailer! The film stars Garret Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley, and Viggo Mortensen. It was directed by Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries), and produced by Francis Ford Coppola. Did you know…it was once a legend that the novel was written in only three weeks? In reality, it took Kerouac nine years to write. Check out some stills from the movie in our previous post! Really looks like it will be a fantastic movie, can’t wait to see it!

Plot Synopsis: After the death of his father, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.

Hmmm. Never read the book, but I might have to pick it up before I watch the movie.

Something that confused me a lot, who is Dean Moriarty? I have the book myself, but Kerouac was obsessed with Neal Cassady, right?
