Chloe Grace Moretz To Star in ‘If I Stay,’ RJ Cutler to Direct

January 23, 2013

Summit Entertainment’s upcoming adaptation of If I Stay, which has been in the pipeline for quite a while, has a new star and director! Back in 2010, Dakota Fanning was in talks to star in the film, but it then dissolved into negotiations. It has jumped back onto the radar with buzzing it-girl of the moment, Chloe Moretz, having signed on to star in the picture. RJ Cutler will direct the movie, marking his film debut after a career of documentaries. Gayle Forman’s novel tells the story of a girl who was caught in a car accident, and while in limbo between life and death, has to make the ultimate choice of if she wants to “stay” living. The film was originally going to be directed by Twilight‘s Catherine Hardwicke but has shuffled into various stages of production before fading away again. I’m hoping that this time we’ll actually see the book make it to the big screen! What do you think, is Chloe Grace Moretz a good choice for Mia in If I Stay? Sound off in the comments!

This is one of my favorite books and I’m excited for any news! I wish Catherine Hardwicke was still attached (hello 2009), but Moretz is a step in the right direction.

Chloë is wonderful for this project

Yay!!! :D I’m so excited to see this film adopted into a movie. Have been waiting for this for what feels like forever. I think Chloe will be perfect as Mia :) Excited!!

Sorry, but this is just my personal opinion bleeding into it, but I really don’t like Chole. She seems too young. Mia is going to college and if I remember, around 18. Chole looks like she’s 12 or 13. She looks EXTREMELY young. She would stick out like a sore thumb at a high school (or just look like a really young freshman).
But whatever. These book to movie adaptations of YA contemporary fic. never seem to make it out of pre-production

I love Chloe morels but she is so beyond wrong for this part it’s not even funny. She’s nothing like mia, I don’t think she’s be able to fully capture her part at all. I really hope she’s not officially Mia cause this could be a great movie. It was an amazingly moving book and I don’t want them to screw it up with a horrible lead role

I agree. She doesn’t fit this part at all.

Chloe Grace Moretz is a fabulous actress, but I don’t think that she fits this part very well. ‘If I Stay’ was a very subtle yet powerfully moving book and it just seems that Chloe Moretz is too well known to do the part justice.

Don’t like Chloe that much and I really don’t think she can pull this off.
