It’s here! Check out the new trailer for “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.”  Kimmy, Natasha, and I saw it first at WonderCon this past Saturday and completely went nuts over it. There is so much great imagery from the book and a moment or two that may have you chuckling if you know what’s coming in the books after “City of Bones.”

We’ve been dying since Saturday for you to see it, so please tell us what you think of it!

“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” based on the novel by Cassandra Clare, stars Jamie Campbell Bower, Lily Collins, Kevin Zegers, Robert Sheehan, Lena Headey, Aidan Turner, Kevin Durand, Godfrey Gao, Jemima West, CCH Pounder, Jared Harris and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.  It arrives in theaters on August 23.

Amy is a lifelong fangirl, who gets most excited over The Twilight Saga, Harry Potter, Disney, Star Trek, superhero movies, and Broadway musicals. She’s Twilight fan fiction writer, Esme Mom Cullen, and her work is (mostly) focused on her favorite ship – Carlisle and Esme. She has the sarcasm and wit of a born and raised Jersey Girl, even though she now makes her home in Southern California. She currently works in the areas of communications and corporate social responsibility.

I loved the series, actually read them over and over again, but I’m not overly fond of the actor that you got to play Jace. He isn’t how I pictured him to be in the book at all. Clary is fairly accurate, but you got someone with a little more color than Will had in the book. It actually looks like a good movie, and since I’ve read the books, I will be eager to see how well the movie fits the book.

SO far based on this trailer it looks like they screwed up already. The vampire scene is just with Jace, Clary and the head vampire, Rafael. Simon had been turned into a rat by accident at Magnus Banes’ Party. The werewolves come to help them at the Hotel Du Mort

  • Carol

I feel like it isn’t a whole lot like the book which is really disappointing. But then again that always happens.

Love to see this movie! Looks very interesting!

I don’t understand how people are disappointed by the littlest things, like the colour of someone’s skin or the fact Lily’s hair is dark red whereas Clary’s is supposed to be more strawberry or auburn. EVERYTHING cannot be the same, the fact Isabelle and Alec are with them at Hotel Dumort will make the whole thing so much more visually effective; so what if the werewolves don’t help them at the hotel? And personally I don’t think we saw ENOUGH of the movie to even make that assumption yet!
Everything I was hoping for (and more!) was in a two minute trailer, and the thing which really freaked me out and made me so much more excited was the fact that they aren’t centralising on the romance – we are going to get EVERYTHING, and it’s going to be awesome!!! The Ravener demon that attacks Clary looks EXACTLY like Cassie described, and it just made me so unbelievably happy, even my Dad thought it looks awesome and he is a REALLY hard man to please!

Personally I think the movie will be great. Cassandra worked a lot on set and she has stated that she is happy with the movie, and who are we to disagree with her when we are already fans of something she has created and worked on. Moreover I believe the trailer is misleading. I’m sure many of you here have read the Hunger Games series and know that the trailer for Catching Fire left out something so central to the plot that there could not be a movie without it. But whoever was in charge chose to leave it out. Since movies like this are so closely watched by fans the people working on it don’t want to give everything away so they mislead you slightly. It makes things more interesting for the original fans because we don’t see all of what we might consider to be our favorite parts of the story splashed across the screen before we get a chance to purchase tickets.
