‘City of Heavenly Fire’ Speculation: The fans have a few theories they’d like to share

With the release of the cover for City of Heavenly Fire, comes the crazy emotional crackpot theories from the fans. To summarize everyone’s thoughts….

PAIN.

The fans went wild on January 14th with the release of the last cover of The Mortal Instruments series. Theories were thrown around the twitterverse, fangirling ensued, and the fansites were there to witness it all. I asked the Shadowhunters to throw their theories for the finale at me. I have my own theories, but I’ll save them till the end. Read all the speculation below:

See above. Pain. (Crazy theories)

This could actually happen. See below.

Wasn’t that enlightening?

The fans have some good theories, and this post will be fun to look back on when we’ve devoured the novel. I thought the most interesting theory was Isabelle joining the Iron Sisters. Though I still think Alec will die, and I do really think Magnus might also be killed off only do to the fact that Cassie wrote his chronicles this past year. I honestly don’t think Clary or Jace will die, most of the main characters will survive, but I want to see how Jem’s (Brother Zachariah) role plays into the book. If you want some more fun thought out theories watch our writer’s, Christine, video only if you read both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series! She is a booktuber on YouTube, and you should totally subscribe to her if you haven’t already!

Let us know your thoughts on the theories above, or if you have any of your own!

I think,Maia,(Alec or Magnus),Simon,Jocelyn,Sebastian and Jace will die!
Jace will die because look at this
“Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood.”
THIS IS FROM THE DARK ARTIFICES,WHICH TAKE PLACE IN 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And, “Your boyfriend’s dead. Thought you should know.”
    From City of Heavenly Fire.
I think Jace will die *cries*
Another thing is MAYBE (A LONG SHOT),
Alec turns in to a VAMPIRE,so he can be with Magnus and he’ll be basically dead.you know?! That’d be great :D
And,do you think Cassandra can make Clary pregnant if Jace died?! Because, she just can’t kill the Herondale line, right?!

Wouldn’t that basically be the same ending, more or less as the Infernal Devices? Killing the Herondale hero? Are we cursing them to always be crazy awesome, especially tormented and then die an early premature tragic death. I’d feel rather ripped off if I were given a repeat performance.
And the impregnation thing is so epically cliché. I love Shadowhunter books but I would be forced to stop reading the last installment and consider myself good with the whatever, second or fifth book, in that case.
Jace died–he has risen and been reborn, gone through the tiresomeness of possession to have the sacred fire within him. I would say that he has ascended if anything. Technically he has gone beyond death in so many ways. He is very much the essence of what the Angel is. How you kill that is quite questionable to me. Not to mention that he is untouchable physically and I’m pretty sure that the sacred fire deals a pretty decided hit to most man-made weaponry as well as mystical as well. We aren’t dealing with some warlock magic or rune, this is Holy Power from the Angel.
As for the mortality of the others… I couldn’t begin to speculate. I would say the only one truly safe in all of this would likely be Magnus–although wouldn’t it be a truly tragic yet Shakespearean tale for him to somehow give up his immortality for the love he has turned his back on and forsaken after the most bitter betrayal. Le sigh for the tearjerker storytelling that makes one sail books against walls and cuddle our teddy bears while weeping into our soup.

I may suggest that Cassie might be saying that Emma is as best as Jace was in his adolescence or Jace is referred as an adult now.
And with what Sebastian said, it might be also that he was referring to Simon. Jace isn’t the only one who’s life’s near the edge of a cliff into his death. Basically, every character is in risk of dying.
I agree with Ali. Jace suffered worst than dying. He died once, he dies again? Would it be nice to see such a brave character who risked his life to have his final breath? Besides, who would like City of Heavenly Fire ending up the same with books of John Green etc.?

The Heavenly Fire burns out the bad, right? What if, like Jonathan Shadowhunter before him, Jace combines his blood with Angel Raziel to make a new Mortal Cup that can heal the Demon Shadowhunters?
