Exclusive: ‘Divergent’ author Veronica Roth talks what she would change in her book after seeing the movie

April 3, 2014

At the European Premiere of Divergent, which took place in London’s Leicester Square last week, the awe-inspiring author of the best selling trilogy – Veronica Roth – was one of many guests. We were lucky enough to catch her briefly, and hear what she had to say about the movie. She revealed that if she could re-write her series, she may have added more of Jeanine! Take a look:

Now that you’ve had a chance to see the movie, and look at how Neil envisioned your entire story, what would you have done differently with the book?

VERONICA: I think we see a lot more Kate Winslet in [the movie], which no one’s complaining about! But I think that’s a good thing for the story, because having the antagonist present through climatic moments in the book is an important thing that I kind of did, but maybe not as much as I would have now if I could go back now that I have seen it.

Would you have liked more Jeanine in Veronica Roth’s Divergent?

Soraya is a 20 year-old that has a love for all fictional books, as well as film, a hell of a lot of TV-Shows and for the Page to Premiere site. She's currently studying English Literature at University, and hopes to become an editor within the Publishing Industry someday, and hopefully an author. When she's not on the site posting all things YA, she's on Twitter freaking out about her favourite fandoms. Follow @runnersmaze to join her!

no, I would’ve liked seeing more evil Peter. Jeanine doesn’t last through the series and Peter does. I need his evilness to make his redemption worth mentioning later.
