Gwendoline Christie of ‘Game of Thrones’ replaces Lily Rabe in ‘Mockingjay’

April 5, 2014

Gwendoline Christie has stepped into the final adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ Mockingjay in the role of Commander Lyme. The part originally went to Lily Rabe, who is best known for her work on the American Horror Story series on AMC.

Christie is most well-known for her powerful performance as Brienne of Tarth of the HBO series Game of Thrones. Her commanding presence will be perfect for the domineering commander of District 13, who was a previous victor of a past Hunger Games. The Hollywood Reporter cites a previous commitment to Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare in the Park as the reason for Lily Rabe’s departure from the hit franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence.

Commander Lyme will make her debut in November 2015, in Mockingjay – Part 2. The first part of the story, Mockingjay – Part 1, hits theaters this year in November 2014.
