We haven’t heard much news regarding Hush, Hush since it was optioned by LD Entertainment for a possible four film franchise back in 2012. But, here we are. Two years later, and we’re finally getting some news! Well, not really.
There have been a crazy amount of rumors circulating but there has been no confirmation or official reports of Theo being in talks for the role of Patch Cipriano in the movie adaptation of Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush, and honestly, we highly doubt he’ll decide to take on this film as his next project. But, we decided it was worth mentioning anyway in order to clear the air and set the record straight. Over the past day or so, there have been dubious rumors flying around in the webosphere about the casting of Theo James or Ian Somerhalder to play the fallen angel – but, wait. Aren’t they supposed to be in high school? Yes. Yes, they are.
This is one of the main reasons why we’re not positive that these rumors are actually true, and that we don’t believe that either man will actually take the part. Though both Theo and Ian are obviously drop dead gorgeous, they’re a tad old. (And I mean that in the best way. Age has done amazing things to those two men.) Though age becomes them, it’s still a little weird that they would be approached about playing someone that is clearly supposed to be in high school.
Also, Theo seems to have his hands full with his other successful YA adaptation series Divergent, by Veronica Roth. They are set to start filming the sequel, Insurgent, at the beginning of this summer. With Insurgent along with both parts of Allegiant Theo seems to be up to his neck in movies already! So we can’t help to think that it’s a little suspicious that he would take on another YA adaptation that could easily snowball into filming the entire Hush, Hush series.
The official synopsis for Hush, Hush, reads:
Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.
Author Becca Fitzpatrick has reportedly said that she thinks it’ll be hard to find any two lead actor and actress that will be perfect for the parts, and that she would prefer that two unknowns be cast for the roles.
