I am so torn on this. I don’t know how to process this book. Ana is an immature 12 year old, essentially. Christian is attracted to her because of her purity, and he uses it against her. She lets him. It’s creepy. And really, really bad editing. And based off of Twilight, which I only liked when I was about 17. But also. Christian is so sexy. And I just… my brain can’t even handle it. Maybe the movie will be better than the book? And will allow me to see it through a different interpretation than just my own? I am always the one telling my friends to not talk about rape as a joke, to not talk about women being weak, to stop and think about how a huge rape culture exists in this country. I’m not saying Ana is getting RAPED, so please don’t take it that way. But outspoken feminists don’t like this book. And I can see why. But…. I dunno! I think I’m going to see it, but not tell anyone that I’m seeing it until I get a chance to see how Ana acts and is treated in the movie. Lol!
