I’m absolutely loving this brand new If I Stay trailer, featuring the prologue of the novel by Gayle Forman. It’s also set to the band M83, which always is sure to ramp up the feels! The film will hit theaters on August 22nd.

SYNOPSIS: Mia Hall (Chloë Grace Moretz) thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, Adam (Jamie Blackley). But what should have been a carefree family drive changes everything in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance. Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia has only one decision left, which will not only decide her future but her ultimate fate. “If I Stay” is based on the best-selling novel of the same name.

I think I know what it is. Chloe could maybe pass as a 17 year old, but her voice is just so high it emphasizes how young she (at least) looks. I’m still on the fence about this movie, because I imagined Mia to be so much more mature in looks and action. I don’t know. I just don’t know how i feel.

There are plenty of small seventeen year olds! Nice to see an actual teenager playing on of these characters as most movies have been going with older actors, who have youthful faces but are out of their teenage years. I just hope she does the role well.

I know, I said I know she is 17 and passes as a youthful one, but I seriously imagined Mia to seem older than she actually was. I don’t know if this is just my observations, but oldest kids tend to act and sound a lot older than they are, and with Mia being an oldest child and taking on a lot of responsibility and other heavy things, I imagined her being a little worn down, wiser than just any old reckless teenager.

I really hope this does well enough that we possibly get the sequel even though I highly doubt it. As much as I loved this book the sequel from Adam’s perspective absolutely killed me and stayed with me much longer.
