Shailene Woodley on ‘Allegiant’ TV movie: “I didn’t sign up to be in a TV show”

It’s not official yet, but it looks like Shailene Woodley may not be returning to star as Tris Prior in the Allegiant TV movie which Lionsgate plans to use to launch a Divergent television show. Woodley explained to Screenrant:

SHAILENE WOODLEY: “I didn’t sign up to be in a television show. Out of respect to the studio and everyone in involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I’m not necessarily interested in doing a television show.”

So, it seems like nothing is yet set in stone, but judging by her remarks it seems likely she won’t return. As Hypable has explained, there is always the chance that Lionsgate will bring out huge paydays to retain it’s main stars for the TV movie, but the entire plan of skipping theaters for this installment was to save money. So, giving Woodley (and Theo James) large checks would likely not fit well into that plan.

What do you think about Lionsgate’s plan for Allegiant?
