Rainbow Rowell has announced that the film adaptation of Eleanor & Park is no longer in development. She shared on her Twitter that although the film may be picked up again, the original team which optioned her book are no longer working on the project.
Gotten lots of E&P movie questions lately. As of now, the Eleanor & Park rights are back with me and not in development. But maybe someday!

Also, Hypable chatted with Rowell and she expanded on the process the adaptation went through, before ultimately falling through, saying:
RAINBOW ROWELL: “DreamWorks optioned it, I worked on a screenplay, and we worked together for a year and a half or so. It just got to the point where they were not going to make it, and that option timed out, and the rights came back to me.”
We’re very excited to see Eleanor & Park on the big screen, but it looks like if it happens, it won’t be for a while.
