‘Fantastic Beasts’ finds its Dumbledore

Potterheads assemble! A young Albus Dumbledore has been cast for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and it’s none other than Jude Law!

Although not much is known about the newest instalment to the franchise, it has been said that the sequel will take us into a darker time for the wizarding world. The franchise will have a total of 5 films and it is working towards the famed battle between Dumbledore and his old friend and partner, Gellert Grindelwald.

On the current timeline of the movie, Dumbledore is not yet headmaster at Hogwarts but rather the Transfiguration professor. The first film followed Newt Scamander as he journeyed through New York trying to collect his fantastic beasts. Scamander made mention to Dumbledore when explaining how Dumbledore fought against his expulsion from Hogwarts. This means that the two of them already know each other and have a good relationship!

Although Jude Law has not worked with Eddie Redmayne, the actor behind Newt, before, he has worked alongside both Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell. Depp plays Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts films and Farrell plays Graves, the man in which Grindelwald was disguising himself as. Law, Depp, and Farrell all worked together in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, where they each played a different version of the same character.

The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is due to hit theatres November 16, 2018.
